Vertical
Pianos
A vertical
piano is a piano whose strings are stretched vertically, perpendicular
to the floor. The taller the instrument, the bigger the sound.
* Professional Studio (or Concert Vertical)
(49" to 52" in height)
The Professional Studio is the tallest
vertical piano, with a soundboard and string length comparable to that
of a medium grand. It is second only to the grands in tone quality.
* Studio (44" to 48" in height)
The soundboard and string lengths of the Studio piano produce a resonant tone and volume comparable to a small grand. A very durable instrument, this model is popular with many piano teachers, religious and academic institutions.
* Console ( 40" to 43" in height)
Console pianos are a little shorter, but more affordable, than Studio pianos. Also popular with piano teachers, these models are the most common home instrument.
* Spinet ( 36" to 39" in height)
The smallest type of piano. While not as powerful as the taller models, the Spinet piano is more than adequate for many homes.
Furniture Styles
Decorator
styling or period furniture is very popular on the vertical models.
There is a variety of stylings from which to choose, ranging from the simple
design and finish of the "professional" or "institutional" style to the
fancy, curved legs and carved music desks that offer a European look.
Depending on the manufacturer, the selection of available wood finishes includes polished and satin versions in ebony, cherry,
mahogany, oak and walnut.
We offer all of these types of vertical pianos among our various product
lines. To see a listing of the brands we offer, please go to Piano Manufacturers
